Glossary term
Rotation
Continuous positional movement between teammates to disorganize the defense, create space and recycle possession.
In depth
Rotations are the heartbeat of futsal attack. The most common is the '8' or 'figure-8' rotation, where players continuously cycle between fixo, ala and pivot positions to drag markers and open lanes.
Examples
- ›Brazil's classic 'jogo de tabela' uses constant rotations to create unmarked finishing lanes.
- ›A simple rotation: ala passes to fixo, then sprints to the pivot spot as the original pivot drops.
