Ala (Winger)
Wide attacking player responsible for stretching the defense, creating chances and tracking back to support the fixo.
In depth
Alas operate on the touchlines and provide most of a team's width. They must be two-way players: explosive 1v1 dribblers in attack and disciplined defenders who cover the fixo on the opposite flank during transitions.
Examples
- ›An ala overlaps a teammate down the line for a parallel pass and finish.
- ›On a turnover, both alas immediately drop into the second defensive line.
