Does drafting teams by rating actually make futsal games closer?

In our simulation of 400,000 pickup splits, picking teams at random left an average rating gap of 5.8 points between sides, and 48.5% of games were lopsided. A rating-based snake draft cut that gap to 1.6 points and reduced lopsided games to 2.3%, across squads of 8 to 14 players.
